NICU Visit at Hospital Atlántida
Our Connect Global Maternity Home team enjoys working with and supporting the amazing staff at the General Hospital of Atlántida.
Each and every mother we have the pleasure of serving here in the Maternity Home is directly referred to us by the staff at the hospital just steps away. They have a working neonatal area that treats each and every baby that is born at this hospital. While the Maternity Home is not a medical facility we work in partnership with the nurses and doctors who are delivering and caring for the babies.
Over the years and especially since the opening of the Maternity Home we have worked towards deepening this relationship and providing support where and when we can. It not only encourages the nursing community and has made a life-saving difference for the newborns in their care.
Throughout the pandemic, Connect Global has continued to provide personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, gowns, and shields. We have also been able to donate other items such as blood pressure cuffs, medications, and other much-needed resources. We have been blessed by several generous friends who see this as a great opportunity to Give with Us and help provide these items directly or donate the financial resources to help us purchase the items here.
The most vital need here right now is a sanitization hood and incubator
We want to help in the most sustainable ways possible when we engage with anyone who presents a need. We want to be able to work with those we trust and help them achieve more, do their job better, or in some way leave a lasting impact. We believe that one of the best ways we can immediately impact the dozens of babies born each week is by providing an additional Incubator. This will help alleviate the strain that the nurses are under right now when they have multiple babies being born in the same time frames who are in need of extra care and time in the NICU.
We are raising $15,000 to make these much-needed investments at the NICU in Honduras.
We know that with these resources the doctors and nurses will see an immediate increase in the number of lives being saved on a weekly basis.
In January alone 15 mothers in our care faced unimaginable heartbreak through the devastating loss of their newborn. These losses are due to many different reasons but the local charge nurse, Belkis, mentioned to us how vital an incubator is in saving lives when precious minutes make the difference.
