Connect Global Is Implementing Sustainable Solutions Around The World
Aquaponics.
Since the founding of Connect Global, we have focused on and invested in sustainable solutions to problems like food scarcity. One of the continuing projects we are looking forward to expanding as a part of our overall strategy to serve those affected by hunger is by building Aquaponic Food Systems and Small Urban and Micro Farms.
Aquaponics is a hybrid of hydroponic methods of growing healthy vegetables alongside growing aquaculture such as tilapia. In this system we couple fast-growing tilapia with leafy vegetation in one closed system connected by a series of basic plumbing.
In a small system like the ones below, the fish are used as a fertilizer for the vegetation which in turn pull nutrients out of the water and filter the water so that it can then be recycled back into the fish tank to help oxygenate the water. The fish tank totals 450 gallons of water. This system utilizes 90 percent less water than traditional in-ground gardening and the nutrient-rich water is more sustainable than overly farmed topsoil.
We already have multiple systems in and around La Ceiba and several which are in the works and or are being maintained that our national director Jorge Amador has been overseeing virtually in Costa Rica, Honduras, Colombia, and even in the USA.
Connect Global Aquaponics
CONNECT GLOBAL CONTINUES TO INVEST IN AQUAPONICS BECAUSE WE KNOW IT WORKS AND WE BELIEVE THAT SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS ARE THE FUTURE.
We need to work together to challenge the status quo and bring this timeless technology to as many people as possible.
We invite you to help us spread the word so we can continue to share these solutions with those in need. Many people have already benefited from these systems and we are anxious to get these tools into the hands of many more.
YOU CAN HELP CONNECT GLOBAL SHARE AQUAPONICS WITH THOSE IN NEED IN 2 WAYS.
You can Sponsor a Single system by making a donation of $500
You can sponsor our Aquaponics Program by committing to give regularly at any amount

What is Aquaponics?
An aquaponic system is a closed-loop ecosystem that combines aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (growing plants without soil). Fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants, and the plants in turn purify the water for the fish. Water is pumped from the fish tank to the grow beds, where the plants remove nutrients from the water before it is returned to the tank. This creates a symbiotic relationship between the fish and plants, with each organism benefitting from the other. The result is a sustainable and efficient food production system that requires less land, water, and resources compared to traditional farming methods.
Currently, Connect Global is investing in and cooperatively working on Aquaponic food production systems with our Honduran National Director, Jorge Amador in Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia and future sites are in the works.
